Innovation In Medical Tube Extrusion Technology
Tekni-Plex will introduce innovative applications of medical tubing technology at the 2018 Medtec China exhibition in Shanghai on September 27, 2018.
Dan Lazas, Director of the Senior Medical Group at Deniper, will share the trends affecting the development of medical tubes and the solutions being developed.
Deniper will analyze and discuss materials and process innovations for the manufacture of advanced medical tubes for drug delivery and interventional applications. Specific applications include polymeric tubing that is capable of improving intravenous (IV) drug delivery and intravascular catheters that are used to reach smaller distal sites in the body.
For example, innovations in multilayer extrusion technology are used to maximize delivery of drugs into IV tubes and to improve the ability of catheters to be delivered to peripheral small blood vessels. The nanoparticle reinforced polymer compound and the wires within the extruded conduit wall also allow for enhanced positioning and positioning of the microcatheter.
Natvar and Dunn Industries, the Deniper business unit, have extensive experience in meeting the medical market needs through a variety of medical tube technologies.
These technologies include single- and multi-chamber, single- and multi-layer, reinforced and customized accessories for patient care, and materials for these extrusions include polyvinyl chloride (PVC), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and thermoplastic elastomers. (TPE), polyamide, silicone, polyolefin, and the like.
